It all began in 1945, the year in which Manuel de Almeida Jorge, a master footwear craftsman, started producing high quality shoes in Sao Joao da Madeira, the heart of traditional Portuguese footwear. His creations quickly became known throughout the country, both for the quality of his handicraft and his contemporary design. Over 70 years have passed since Manuel began producing and his original workshop grew as quickly as the brand. Still operating from the same location on Rua Jaime Afreixo, Mariano now produces footwear that reaches demanding customers all over the world. Now in its fourth generation, Manuel's family keeps its artisan spirit alive and remains true to its commitment of producing high quality handmade footwear. We are passionate about shoes.
