Tout a commencé en 1945, c’était l ́année où Manuel de Almeida Jorge, maître-artisan de la chaussure, a commencé à produire des chaussures de qualité Mariano dans le petit village de São João da Madeira, au cœur de la chaussure traditionnelle portugaise. Ses créations vont bientôt gagner une renommée à travers le pays, à la fois pour la qualité de son travail et pour son design contemporain.

More than 75 years have passed since Manuel started out and his original workshop has grown apace with the growth of the brand. Still working from the original site at Rua Jaime Afreixo, Mariano now produces footwear which reach discerning customers around the world.

Manuel’s family, now into their 4th generation, keeps his artisan spirit alive by staying true to his commitment to produce high quality, handcrafted footwear.
